Alexis Peterson of Summerville wins ePortfolio award at Clemson University

2012 May 8

Alexis Peterson of Summerville was honored with an ePortfolio Award at Clemson University.

Peterson, a senior majoring in graphic communications, received the first runner-up, Best ePortfolio award for demonstrating excellence in college-related skills, knowledge and substantive learning at Clemson University through the electronic portfolio.

Students are required to create an ePortfolio, an online presentation about what they learned and did at Clemson, including samples of their work, programs they participated in, extracurricular activities and other information.

Students' ePortfolios were judged on such factors as creativity, effective communication, demonstration of general education competencies, imaginative use of technology and design, creative inquiry research presentation, professionalism and functionality.

"These students' ePortfolios exemplify creativity and interdisciplinary knowledge and showcase what it means to be a graduate of Clemson University," said Gail Ring, director of the ePortfolio program.

Awards were presented to eight students in conjunction with Clemson's Michelin Career Center, the R. Roy and Marnie Pearce Center for Professional Communication and the Creative Inquiry program. Awards included cash, gift cards, Staples and Best Buy gift packs, flash drives and certificates.
